Short memories

Complaint: I have to travel for work; it's a fact of life in my job and usually I have to travel maybe once per month, sometimes more, sometimes less. Husband was complaining that he had to take kids to school and pick up from work yet again because I would be gone. I reminded him that for at least two years I was a "single parent" in the evenings when he worked 2nd shift and then went to school at nights. What was his comnent in return? "Yeah, but at least I didn't go out of state and stay in a hotel room." Repeat conversation that at least it's only once a month in comparison to every night for two years!

Compliment: Bad weather day today and I was having trouble driving home in the snow; I was to pick up the girls and husband offered to pick them up so i didn't have to be out any longer. He also came home and immediately went to work on shoveling driveway with no complaints!

The One Track Mind

1. Complaint: Daughter woke me up at midnight with stomach hurting. Went downstairs and comforted her through night of being sick (every 20 minutes she'd vomit and I'd clean out the bowl, rinsed out her mouth, comforted her, tried to sleep, then repeat.) At 6 AM went back to bed. As soon as I got into bed, spouse reached for me wanting to be intimate after I just told him I'd been up all night with our daughter. When I asked him why he would try such a thing, his response was "well, you were awake" !!!

2. Compliment: He build a fire in the fireplace because he knew I was cold; lazyboy chair wasn't working and he immediately fixed it so I could put my feet up.
